Mangaluru: The city police swung in action to arrest two young men suspected of attacking a man night Wednesday night because he spoke to a woman with a different faith.
People who were arrested, Jayaprakash and Pruthvi, worked as employees of a daily wage at the Dakshina Cooperative Cooperative Union Factory in Kulashekara.
In his complaint, Mohammed PV, 23, from Kannur in Kerala, said the incident occurred at 10pm on October 6.
Mohammed and his friend, Pranav, were on a bicycle, returned to their accommodation in Kankanady.
On the road, they stopped near the bakery and talked to a woman who studied on the same campus as them.
When they drove ahead, they saw two more college women near the two-wheeled showroom and stopped to talk to them.
At this time, said Mohammed in his complaint, two men traveling with a bicycle stopped.
They asked Mohammed to his name and when he told them, they harassed him and slapped him.
When Mohammed wondered what the problem was, the Duo asked him why he talked to a woman from a different faith.
