Aurangabad: The Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a yellow warning for half of the district, including Nanded, Parbhani, Hingoli and Latur, in the battered Marathwada region.
The IMD stated that the district is very likely to rain in several places along with storms, lightning or strong winds.
More rain also existed in stores for Aurangabad and three of the remaining districts in the region, Jalna, Beed and Osmanabad, with the estimated rain of light to moderate in the middle of a storm.
While the widespread rainfall involving light spells to moderate with heavy rain in isolated places already in Marathwada for the past three days, official estimates of extreme weather conditions for the next few days can cause situations such as flooding in the region.
Marathwada, consisting of eight districts, has received 14 mm rain in the last 24 hours, which ended on Thursday morning, with two circles from the road and one circle of each of Beed and Jalna recorded a heavy shower of more than 65 mm.
This region has received 874 mm rainfall since June 1, which is 136% of the expected shower.
In accordance with the latest official estimates, more than 15.38 plants of the Lakh hectare area of various parts of the region have been damaged by Panchangamas more than 32% of the affected areas have not ended.
The region has also witnessed more than 30 deaths related to the rain during the current rainy season with an alert to be heard by each district administration for people who live on the banks of the Godavari river and its tributaries after heavy rain.
Disaster Management Coordinator Division Narendra Kulkarni said the warning related to the latest rain has been distributed with all district administration of Marathwada.
“Each Disaster Management Authority has been asked to be ready to face all the possibilities arising from heavy rain,” he said.
