Veraval: When Covid-19 cases are increasing in the state, more than 1,800 young people participate in the marathon held by Bharat Vikas Parishad in Veraval on Sunday morning.
The police swung actions and order organizers to say Covid guidelines issued by the government.
One person was arrested by Veraval police later that day.
Interestingly, several BJP leaders including Junagadh Gir-Somnath MP Rajesh Chudasama were present when the marathon was marked since morning.
Marathon is held in three categories – 21 km, 15km and 5 km.
The source said that the committee had prepared a marathon for the past three months.
According to the police, hundreds of runners were seen participating in the marathon near the tower intersection.
Many participants do not wear face masks and even social distance is not followed.
The participants gathered at Veraval Chowpati after a marathon to attend a program.
The police immediately asked about the event and found that Kalpesh Shah from Bharat Vikas Parishad had organized the marathon.
The police said that the agency did not take police permission to arrange a marathon.
Shah was arrested after police filed fir.
After the marathon, hundreds of young people were seen dancing in Chowpati without wearing a face mask or maintaining social distance.
On Saturday, Veraval BJP was responsible for Arvind Raiyani was here to oversee preparation after the number of cases was shot in the state.
