PARIS: Over two billion Covid-19 vaccines are given throughout the planet, according to an AFP tally Thursday drawn from official sources.
The landmark comes six months following the initial vaccination efforts against Covid-19 started.
At least 2,109,696,022 shots are granted in 215 countries and territories, as stated by the count in an AFP database obtained at 0915 GMT.
Israel, that has led the race from the beginning, remains out ahead, with almost six in 10 individuals there completely vaccinated.
It’s followed closely by Canada (59% of the populace have experienced one jab), the United Kingdom (58.3% ), Chile (56.6% ) along with the USA (51% ).
Six out of 10 of those injections are administered at the planet’s three most populous nations — China (704.8 million doses), the US (296.9 million) and India (221 million).
Almost four out of 10 men and women in the European Union have experienced at least one shooter, together with Germany top with 43.6 per cent, followed closely by Italy (40% ) and France and Spain around 39.4 percent.
Just six countries on the planet haven’t yet begun vaccinating — North Korea, Haiti, Tanzania, Chad, Burundi an Eritrea.
