Moscow: Moscow on Friday slammed US sanctions imposed earlier this week in Russians and Russian companies for involvement in the North Korean nuclear program.
The Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Maria Zakharova’s spokesman said that the accusation was “truly unacceptable”.
“Without bothering with evidence, the United States tries to replace fiction for real facts,” Zakharova said.
He added that Washington was “throwing far and unfounded accusations that Russia promoted the development of North Korea’s nuclear missile program”.
On Wednesday, the United States imposed sanctions in five North Korea related to authoristic ballistic missile programs.
The Ministry of Finance said one of the approved North Koreans was based on Russia and had provided support to the second North Korean natural science academy, which was subject to sanctions.
Washington also pointed to Russian residents, Roman Anatolyevich Alar, and a Russian company, Parsek LLC, because it has “contributed materially to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or their childbirth facilities with (North Korea).” This step prohibits transactions by US citizens with designated individuals and foreign companies involved with them can also be subject to sanctions.
