Vadodara: Sixteen famous experts from all over the country attended the debate about ‘Giloy: The Magical Herb’ held under the National Campaign of ‘AMRITA for life’ on Saturday.
Experts include those from the research and administration sector including Ayurveda and reversed pharmacology, anatomy and pharmacognosis.
This program is all about Tinospora Cordifolia (Giloy / Amrita) and its consciousness regarding its use as a medicinal plant among the people.
Under this program, the University of M S botany department has distributed more than 2 lakh Giloy plants to people in the city of Vadodara and surrounding villages.
Awards are given to students who have participated in various competitions such as painting, poetry, posters and essays held in schools and colleges as part of the national campaign to promote Giloy.
All experts argue that an integrated approach must be used to combine traditional knowledge with sophisticated phytochemical and molecular knowledge.
