Mumbai: 701km Mumbai-Nagpur Ballasaheb Thackeray Samruddhi Expressway will be opened for traffic in the next two months, said Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde who is also responsible for the state road body, MSRDC.
Last month, the state government gave an extension of 6 months to Managing Director MSRDC R Moppalwar who had oversee project implementation.
Shinde spoke at Lokmat Infra Confaces held in the city on Wednesday.
“The government creates highway networks in the state to increase connectivity and increase business activities.
Because the environment is a very important problem lately, we have been careful to make the green zone along this route, including underpasses for wildlife,” he said , adding that the Trans-Harbor Mumbai link will be assigned September-October 2023 while the coastal road will be disposed of December 2023.
He said the plan is to connect all state districts where 5,500 km of highway has been proposed.
After the toll road was assigned, we would start working to extend it to the Gondia, Bhandara, to Gadchiroli, “he said.” Like Dibbai-Pune Expressway connected to Mumbai and helping growth, it will also allow distance to be covered in 6-7 hours and giving Growth of the boost in Vidarbha, “he said.
Moppalwar said MSRDC had also planned to increase connectivity in the state and also inter-state connectivity.
The Solapur-Chennai toll road through Nandurbar and Mumbai-Pune-Nanded-Hyderabad Express is two interstate connectivity proposals, he said.
Commissioner The city of Mumbai Iqbal Chahal said that BMC would spend RS 12,700 Crore on the coastal road from its own source without utilizing any loan both from the Central Government or the State Government.
