Mumbai: Death and unintentional injury on the lowest Mumbai train in 2020-21 compared to four years before that, data released by the non-profit praja foundation shows.
About 370 lives were lost and 269 commuters were injured in the lifeline in the city in 2020-21.
While the low number seems to be a direct impact of pandemic locking induced pandemic, accidental death has continued to decline every year from 2017-18.
The train has linked a reduction to a number of security measures.
Data with the Praja Foundation showed that 65% of illegal deaths in 2020-21 were caused by tracking the intersection.
The majority of them are 65 deaths at Dahar-Ram Mandir Station and 68 deaths at Kurla-Mulund Station.
However, the majority of injuries on commuters caused by falling from the running train (36% of cases).
Crime on the train was also drastically reduced by dramatically 92% in 2020-21 compared to the financial year before that.
Limited service in pandemic is the main reason.
The maximum crime reported in 2020-21 is the theft (1191 cases) followed by Dakoitas and robbery (197 cases).
Until 2015, the Maharashtra train police will record lost items as “missing complaints.” But since then they have made major changes in their recording process and began to register the items lost as theft.
As a result, the amount of fire theft is very large in Maharashtra compared to other Indian countries.
