Mumbai: The Central Railway (CR) has established ‘restaurants on wheels’ at Iconic Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in South Mumbai, which is said to offer a unique experience for visitors in coaches installed in Rails, a word official on the day Monday.
According to the release issued by Cr, this restaurant has been made using a dumped rail coach which will be a landmark restaurant in this area.
“The restaurant will be a place to eat that offers a unique experience for visitors and will accommodate 40 customers in the coach with 10 tables.
The restaurant’s interior has been decorated in such a way that passengers, and the public, can enjoy the experience of eating in a train-themed setting,” Shivaji Sutar said , Pro Head, Central Railway.
The coach of the restaurant installed in Rails is located in the legacy of the sewer, the opposite platform No.
18 in CSMT, said Sutar, adding Gully Heritage to a train artifact including a narrow gauge locomotive, old press press parts etc.
‘The restaurant above’ is set under the “innovative idea” catering policy.
This place offers spacious space besides easy connectivity to the suburbs through a freeway.
Sutar said dishes from various regions in India, continental and others will be available.
This restaurant will open for passengers and the general public too.
The restaurant will operate following all existing Covid-19 guidelines that are prescribed by the government for restaurants to dating.
The train has appointed a contractor to run this restaurant in CSMT, Sutar said, adding meal rates and menus to be decided by license holders according to the market level approved by the train.
Sutar said that the central train planned to explore the possibility of opening a similar restaurant at Terminus Lokmanya Tilak, Kalyan, Neral, Lonavala and Igatpuri.
Tender has been given in six locations including CSMT.
Five other locations are Nagpur Station, Akurdi, Chinchwad, Baramati and Miraj.
