NAGPUR: Four days after the attack, Mankapur police Monday arrested three friends of the deceased Balram Rahul (28) for their involvement in the attack and searched Hospital doctor Kunal on January 27 morning.
Police arrested the prime accused of Austin alias Aatish Robert Francis (22), Rajesh Sagar Besahare (28) and Raju Pannalal Gupta (40), all residents of Shree Krishna Dham Zopadpatti in Koradi, from their home in the afternoon.
Mandavdhare VJ police inspector told TOI that a preliminary investigation showed Francis’s involvement in attacking a doctor.
“Sagar seems to have incited other defendants.
All three are friends of the deceased.
On the question, they say they are angry when the doctor told them about the death of their friend and began to destroy hospital property, “he said.
Police have registered an offense under Section 143, 147, 149, 427, 188, 269, 270, 323, 325 of IPC and Sections 3 and 4 of Maharashtra Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to or loss of property) together Section 7 of the Criminal Law Amendment.
These charges deal with unlawful assembly, rioting, destruction of property and causing grievous hurt.
Penalties range from six months to up to seven years in prison and a fine.
Police also have secured CCTV footage from IGGMCH which the deceased was taken after being declared brought dead at the Hospital of Kunal.
IGGMCH clip shows a relative to leave the body in a hurry after almost spent a few minutes in death.
The hospital has filed a complete CCTV footage showed the defendant searched the hospital, pelted stones and attacked the doctors.
Police initially cited pending final ceremony as an excuse to delay action although registering an offense.
Meanwhile, Vidarbha Hospital Association strongly condemns the attack on Kunal Hospital.
“We hope the police Nagpur will set a benchmark in taking timely action convictive tight in many parts against the mafia so that it becomes an example for all those who commit such criminal intimidation,” said VHA President Dr.
Ashok Arbat.
VHA stated that the joint CP Aswathi Dorje assured them that strict action would be taken against those who take law in their hands.
