Washington: NASA on Thursday gave three million million dollar companies to develop a commercial space station expected in the end it would replace the international space station, which would retire around the end of the decade.
Blue Origin Jeff Bezos, Aerospace Nanoracks company, and the Northrop Grumman defense contractor won $ 130 million, $ 160 million and $ 125.6 million contracts each to develop their orbit posts.
The fourth company, axiom room, was previously awarded a $ 140 million contract.
The US Space Agency further turned to the private industry to develop the hardware he had made his own, to reduce costs and to focus on ambitious goals, which included building habitat on the moon and preparing the crew mission to Mars.
“We partner with our company to develop space destinations where people can visit, live, and work, enabling NASA to continue to forge roads in space for humanitarian purposes while growing commercial activities in space,” said Nasa Bill Nelson in a statement .
Blue origin partnered with the Sierra room to develop orbital reefs, which will accommodate up to 10 people in the second half of this decade.
It has been described as “business parks used in space” which will support micro research and manufacturing nanoracks space stations, which are developing with Voyager and Lockheed Martin space, called “Starlab.” Nanoracks targets launches for 2027 and imagines biological laboratories, plant habitation laboratories, physical science laboratories and research materials, and open work desk areas.
Northrop Grumman, who has developed a spaceship called Cygnus which provides cargo shipments to ISS, plans to build a station module with modules, including areas for science, tourism and industry experiments.
It has been 21 years since the first long-term occupants arrived at ISS, symbols of international cooperation, especially between the United States and Russia.
It is currently considered safe until 2028 and Nelson’s new administrator said he hoped to last up to 2030, at that time NASA wanted the commercial sector to increase and replace it.
