Mumbai: Central GST (CGST) Navi Mumbai Komisaria arrested employers, related to the CSL Sudhir Pratibha construction company for RS 9 Crore GST Evasion.
The company has taken a contract from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation in 2016, for the construction of a Metro train depot in Nagpur.
The company has collected RS 8.05 Crore GST from its customers but has not paid it to the GST authorities.
The company also utilizes input tax credits that do not meet the requirements (ITC) of Rs 95 Lakh.
GST officials produced the defendant before the court on Thursday and the court sent it to the prison guard.
This case is part of the anti-embezzlement drive launched by CGST, Mumbai Zone and uses a data analysis tool to detect tax avoidance.
The Mumbai CGST zone officer has ordered more than 625 tax avoidance cases, tax avoidance detected by Rs 5,500 Crore, recovering Rs 630 Crore and arrested 47 accused in the past five months.
In addition to tax and penalty payments, the violation also attracted a period of prison for up to five years.
