Nagpur: The vaccination of teenagers aged between 15 and 18 years is running in a full swing across the Vidarbha area with around 5.50 lakhs was attached to one dose in the last 17 days.
Vaccination has begun on January 3.
As far as the dose of booster which began on January 10 was worrying, close to 80,000 people, including senior citizens, received a third dose on Thursday.
The booster dose is set to get speed in February because more senior citizens will meet the requirements, officials said.
“We have managed to stab more than 41,500 teenagers in the Gondia which explain more than 60% of our targets,” said Gondia District Health Officer Dr.
Nitin Kapse.
About 4,000 frontline workers, health workers and senior citizens have taken booster in the Gondia which has become one of the leading districts in vaccination from the start.
In Bhandara, the first dose of vaccination coverage of more than 100% while 44,205 in 15-18 age groups have taken vaccines.
“We have been leading in vaccination from the start and we continued pediatric vaccination as well.
More than 50% of our teenagers are now vaccinated,” said Kadam Sandip District Collector.
In bulldhana, 55,860 young men have taken a vaccine, which is close to 50%.
In Nagpur, more than 1.26 lakh teenagers have taken a vaccine which is quite close to half of the total target of 2.35 lakh.
Teenagers who have taken the first dose in the first week of January will qualify for the second dose in the next ten days and more in a hurry will be seen in vaccination centers.
“Vaccination is the main tool to ensure the security of the child’s population,” said Dr.
Vasant Khalatkar, who was the main researcher for the Covaxin pediatric trial held at Nagpur.
