PANAJI: Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said in the 60th year of Goa’s liberation, he wanted to start the reconstruction of the temples that had been destroyed by the Portuguese.
“I am looking for strength from you to preserve the Hindu Sanskriti language and our Sanskriti temple and seek the strength of you to help restore that Hindu Sanskriti and Sanskriti Temple,” Sawant said after inaugurating updated tourism facilities at Shree Mangueshi’s historic temple in Mangueshi, Ponda.
The Portuguese ordered the Inquisition in 1561, where more than 300 Hindu temples were destroyed.
CM said Shree Mangueshi Temple has originated from Kushasthali or Modern-Day Cortim, which fell on the Portuguese that attacked in 1543.
“Our ancestors moved the Linga Manguesh from the original site at Kushasthali in Mangueshi.

Goa celebrated the 60-year anniversary of his release on December 19.
Sawant said the application for tourists has been developed by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), which uses which tourists can find their own destination.
“Once they reach Goa, tourists only have to enter the type of tourism they are looking for in the application.
They can search for spiritual, inland or beach tourism and they will get all the relevant goals in Goa.
If they are looking for spiritual tourism and they click on the Mangueshi temple, they are Will get the route too, and they don’t need to depend on other people, “said the minister’s chief.
Sawant said the updated tourism infrastructure was inaugurated at the Shree Mangueshi Temple will increase site tourism capacity.
“In phase one, we have completed basic facilities such as toilet blocks, tourist information centers, parking, illumination and shop.
Soon we will complete the phase two, which will include food plazas, community rooms and cottages to visit tourists,” Sawant said.
The two-phase of the work is being taken at a cost of Rs 28 Crore, he said.
