Kathmandu: The Supreme Court of Nepal has issued a show notice to the government seeking clarification why the famous chain killer Charles Sobhraj, who served a life sentence here in the murder case, should not be released from prison after spending 18 years in prison.
A single bench from the peak court headed by Anil Kumar Sinha issued the event caused a notification in response to the appeal submitted by his lawyer to release Sobhraj, 77, for the reason old age.
The APEX court asked the government to submit a written reply within three days about why he should not be released, according to an official in court.
Sobhraj, the Frenchman from Indian and Vietnamese foreigners, was indicted to use a fake passport to enter Nepal and killed two backpackers in 1975, US citizen Connie Jo Boronzich, and his girlfriend Canada Laurent Carrière, 26.
