Kathmandu: The capital of Nepal on Monday announced it would relieve strict pandemic measures, with plans to reopen the school and sports places and slowly restore city life to normal, because the Covid-19 case began to decline.
The Nepal government imposed a difficult restriction last month because of the case of the recording of the virus, driven by the omicron variant.
The school is closed, the religious festival is prohibited, and restaurants are limited to serving several customers.
The Administration of Kathmandu Regency said in a statement that it would lift the road traffic limit from Monday, which had limited vehicles to alternate days for odd or even licenses.
The announcement added that schools and colleges will be allowed to continue teaching directly from next week.
The school that was ordered to close since last month has demanded the government reopen educational institutions because the number of Covid-19 cases began to decline.
Teachers say online education is limited to only a small portion of the population living in urban areas in the Himalayan Country while the majority of students are seized their chances of learning.
Theater, fitness center, and other public places are closed since last month it will also be allowed to open and operate normally.
The place and sports stadium will be allowed to hold half the spectators’ capacity.
The authorities will maintain the requirements made by people in public their vaccination cards and make social distance steps.
Nepal has fully vaccinated 52% of the population, including students and children aged 12 years and over.
It has reported more than 1 million cases of Coronavirus and 11,814 death since the pandemic began.
Appointment of restrictions in the capital and the surrounding district is expected to be followed by similar easing in other parts of the country.
