Evia: The big flower swelled overnight on the Peloponnese Peninsula forced the evacuation of many villages as firefighters who were exhausted fighting throughout Greece for the ninth day on Wednesday.
At Northern Evia, Greece’s second largest island, Flare-UPS remains a major problem for firefighters, who joined volunteers to fight the flame.
In Peloponnese, the flare-up began near Olympia ancient, the first Olympic site, but spread to Gortynia because it was increasingly intensive on Tuesday, burning virgin forests and leading authorities to evacuate 20 villages.
About 580 Greek firefighters assisted by colleagues from France, England, Germany and the Czech Republic were struggling against Blaz in Gortynia.
The fire broke out during the worst Heat wave of Greece in three decades last week, with a temperature of Sarti and dry heat caused a box condition.
