Rajkot: There are some good news for residents of new areas joining Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC).
The Civic’s body water department aims to provide water connections to this area in a year.
The department of water work has floated tenders to put the Ductile Iron (in) pipeline in these fields and the work is expected to begin in the next three to four months.
Officials Department of Working Works said that tenders had floated to put pipes in Nageshwar, Jamnagar Road, Vardhman Nagar, Raiiyadhar, FCI Godown Road and other regions.
The total project cost is Rs 26 Crore.
The population of around 70,000 will benefit from the project.
Madhapar, Ghanteshwar and Manharpar are combined with the Western RMC zone a year ago.
The newly joined area still lacks a lot of basic facilities.
Some households get pipelines through old Panchayat gram networks while the majority of the population depends on water and water tankers.
Nageshwar and Vardhman Nagar, among the fastest growing regions, very dependent on groundwater.
Pushkar Patel, chairman of the committee stood said that the tender would be approved by the permanent committee.
“After the pipe placed this area will be connected to the RMC main network,” Patel said.
Devang Mandkad, Chair of the Water Job Committee said, “We aim to provide drinking water to these areas through our network in a year.”
