New Varsity Focusing on the Proposed Tribal Affairs in C’Nagar

MySuru: Among the old demands of the people of Chamarajanagar, someone has been for the border district to have an independent university, and the indicator is that this tends to be fulfilled soon.
A expert committee led by the Deputy Chancellor of University of Mysore (UOM) G Hemantha Kumar has recommended to the government that universities established in border districts, which focus widely on tribal affairs.

The center, originally named Satellite Postgraduate Center, changed its name in 2015.
The center began with only three courses, and now offers 10 programs, with more than 800 students listed there.
Convener of the Expert Committee is Executive Director of the State of Higher Education Board Gopalakrishna Joshi.
“Our report is ready, and we will send it to the government on Tuesday,” Kumar told Toi.
Committee members visit the postgraduate center, and interact with district administrative officials about starting new universities that universities, once regulated, focused on tribal affairs, given the indigenous population in the border district.
“This proposal is to regulate universities, along the tribal university line in Jharkhand,” said a source, adding that the district government has convinced them to allocate 100 hectares for universities near the city of Chamarajanagar.
UOM VC said that they were intended to submit reports on Monday to the Minister of Higher Education, which is scheduled to be in MySuru.
“Since his visit was canceled, we decided to submit the report on Tuesday,” Kumar said.
