Guwahati: Special Court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Guwahati framed charges under the Long Act Activities (Prevention), 1967 against eight accused of their involvement in a grenade explosion which took place on May 15, 2019 near the State Zoo Assam and Botanical Gardens , leaving six people injured critically.
Defendant – Pappu Koch Bokoliyal alias Bijoy Asom alias Anvi, Jahnabee Saikia, Pranamoy Rajguru, Chinmoy Lahkar, Indra Mohan Bora, Amrit Ballav Goswami, Sanjib Talukdar and Prakash Raj Konwar – Found involved in Asom-Independent Liberation (ULFA-I ) activity.
Nia has taken over the case on June 26, 2019 and submitted a Chargesheet in November of that year.
During the investigation, the agency gathered additional evidence to the defendant, based on the additional chargesheet against militant clothing which was banned by Ulfa-I, the pieces of paresh recently and several others in September last year.
According to the court order, the investigation of this case has revealed that the conspiracy to conduct a bomb explosion on May 15, 2019 near the Assam State Zoo in Guwahati hatched in a rental house of Jahnabee in the Panjabari area in the city, where Pappu, Pranamoy, and Chinmoy were also present.
Pappu and Chinmoy held a meeting with Jahnabee and Pranamoy in the area of ​​the zoo and after that, they had run Dry Run at the scene targeted before the explosion.
Pappu allegedly crossed the grenade and was picked up by Jahnabee in a rental of two-wheeled vehicles from the nursery area in Guwahati after the incident.
The court also found the location of the cellphone the defendant supported the findings of investigations.
