NMC to punish the owner 1.35 lakh plot open for dirty conditions

Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has identified more than 1.35 lakh open plots in the city, many of which have become a dumping yard, which leads to the spread of transmitted diseases through vectors in the city.
Deputy Commissioner of the City (Property Tax) Milind Meshram has issued instructions to the city commissioner assistant of all 10 zones to check open space in their respective zones.
The tax department has provided an assistant commissioner with a list of open plots located in their zone.
“If a dirty open plot with waste disposal and accumulated water stagnant, the assistant Commissioner City has been asked to start the necessary actions against the property owner,” notifications issued by the meshram.
Nodal officers Solid Waste Management Gajendra Mahale also confirmed the development and said that instructions had been issued for 10 zon officers from their department in NMC.
NMC has received several complaints from residents about plots that have serious health hazards due to accumulated waste and water stagnation for years.
Toi has continuously highlighted this health problem.
The Civic body has framed bye-laws to collect a fine on the owner of the open plot if they fail to prevent people from removing their feces.
The assistant Commissioner City will first issue a warning to the property owner immediately cleans their plot.
If they fail to clean the waste, the NMC will clean up the waste and impose the appointment fee of RS50 per square meter from the owner.
Meshram said a fine because it did not clean up the garbage on the open plot it would be restored from the owner by adding the amount in their property tax invoice.
In accordance with the data prepared by the tax department, a maximum of 36,721 open plots are located below the Ashi Nagar zone.
This was attended by 26,615 properties in Nehru Nagar Zone and 17,528 plots in the Hanuman Nagar zone.
The NMC health department said the cases of vector default diseases were more in this zone.
In the past too, the Civic body has asked the owner of the open plot to remove garbage, bushes, garbage and fence.
But nothing was done to enforce this.
