Nashik: Commissioner Municipal Nashik Kailas Jadhav on Monday directing health officials to introduce macro detention zones in the city if the case rises.
At present, Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has 79 micro detention zones, which is a flat, home line or independent bungalow.
In accordance with fresh instructions by the Head of Civil, the building that accommodates around five positive Covid patients will be sealed as a detention zone and a large area where there are more than five cases will be sealed as a macro detention zone.
Ajita Salunke, the medical supervisor who led NMC, told TII that the macro detention zone would be introduced in the city if there were more than five cases in any city area.
This will help NMC health machines to monitor the situation if there are more than five patients in the area, said Inspector .Medical.
The decision for this effect has been taken after the increase in Covid cases in the city for the past few days, he said.
NMC has also introduced a macro detention zone during the second wave of Covid last year after a surge in Covid case.
The total number of detention zones has increased by more than 2,000 when the city has around 28,000 active patients in April last year.
But with a decrease in fresh covid cases from last May, the number of detention zones also decreased.
The city only has 46 detention zones on December 19, but the number of detention zones increased by 70% to 79 for the past 11 days.
City Records 155 Case Nashik City reported 155 fresh Covid cases on Monday, which is the highest number of daily cases in six months after June.
The city also reported two deaths.
NMC officials said there had been an increase in everyday cases in the city for the past six days.
The city reported 509 cases in the last six days between December 29, 2021 and January 3, 2022.
