Hyderabad: Although strict steps, including imprisonment for motorists who were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, Telangana had found themselves above the chart in the case of Drunken Driving (DD).
According to data on the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) for 2020, the country recorded 1,328 cases of DD last year.
Even worse, it also stands second in India – only behind Uttar Pradesh – in the number of deaths caused by DD.
Statistics came as a blow, especially with three police commonserations carrying out a large campaign against drunk driving in Hyderabad and elsewhere.
Officials admitted the need to tighten the snare around Drunken Driving.
“Over the past few years we have put a special focus on this to contain drunk driving accidents through extensive DD examinations.
There is a need to intensify this in the district and along the highway,” said an official.
While the northern state reported 541 deaths caused by 1,039 accidents on Jalan DD, the count of death in Telangana was 343.
Incidentally, the state saw swimming in the case of a total road accident, with a decrease of 11.11% by 2020 years 200.
Recorded 19,172 accidents Last year with 6,882 deaths.
In Hyderabad, 254 people died in 2,064 road accidents throughout the year.
According to NCRB data, Overspeeding stands out as the main reason for the accident in Telangana with 14,978 registered accidents only because of excess speed.
While 5,460 people died in such cases, 498 pedestrians were killed in the Vama road accident, data added.
“The decline in the number of road accidents as a whole is an encouraging sign,” said a senior official for Telangana police.
