Noida: A BTECH student and four others were arrested on Friday for allegedly taking Hyundai I-20 cars using a toy gun in sector 62.
According to the police, the defendant used a toy gun in crime which was actually a cigarette shaped pistol.

“The air gun makes a loud noise so you pull the trigger,” said a police officer.
The Mastermind of the gang, identified as Kartik Wani (22), was a second year BTECH student in Delhi.
He allegedly received assistance from four friends – Vikas (20), Shivam Valmiki (30), Yuvraj Khatri (24) and Abhishek Sharma (22), all from Delhi, to commit crimes.
“Khatri has a cellular repair shop in Delhi and Kartik contacted him after that they began to grab cellphones from commuters.
Then, another accused of being included in the gang and they began to rob the car,” the officer added.
Rajesh S, DCP, Police Noida, said the defendant robbed Indirapuram residents on September 20.
“Around 9:30 a.m., Vikas Nirmal will go home after work.
After a while, the defendant on two motorbikes hinting to him to stop and tell him the car’s bumper was broken.
When Nirmal came out to check, the defendant took him in Gunpoint and robbed his car, Rs 11,000 Cash and cellphone, “DCP added.
On the basis of complaints, FIR is registered under the Section 392 (robbery) IPC.
“While investigating CCTV’s footage, we identified allegations and on Friday, when five would sell stolen cars from sector 57, our team arrested them,” the officer said.
During interrogation, the police knew that Kartik had invested RS 8 Lakh in a private company and lost all the money.
He then joined the other four and decided to seize commuters to make money easily.

Based on their interrogation, the police conducted a search in their hiding place and recovered two stolen motorbikes used in the crime.
