Noida: A 55-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping and torturing two women traded in his flat in sector 107.
One of the women who was saved was tortured for the past four years while who had been taken to flat seven.
Last month, police said.
The defendant has been identified as Naveen Gupta, a resident of Sunworld Vanalika.
“On January 28, an NGO that worked for women’s empowerment told us that humans in the housing community have arrested two prisoners in the flat and tortured him,” said Vrinda Shukla, deputy commissioner of the police (women’s safety).
A team from the Sector Police Office 39 conducted a search in the flat and saved the two traded women.
“One of the women, 30 years old, came from Assam and he was taken to Noida after the work was promised about four years ago and then sold to Gupta.
The other, 25 years old, came from West Bengal and was taken to this flat seven months ago, “Shukla said.
The two women told the police that Gupta would rape and torture him after being drunk and did not pay them a salary for months.
“He will lock them in the flat when he stepped out.
Gupta will also threaten them with terrible consequences if they try to report it,” the officer said.
It was found that Gupta’s wife and daughter lived in the same house but did nothing to save the two women.
“We investigate the role of family members in this case.
Actions will be taken against them if they are found guilty,” Shukla said.
The case was registered against the gupta below 323 (voluntarily caused injury), 342 (wrong confinement), 370 (trade), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) IPC.
“He was returned in court detention.”
