Panaji: North Goa Police have decided to conduct surveys to identify foreigners involved in crimes and live without legitimate documents in the state.
With footlings of tourists abroad will begin, the North Goa police say that they want to act against these foreigners first.
“Legal action will be taken against foreigners involved in crime, living in a country without documents and too much,” Goa SP Shobhit Saxena said.
To increase safety and security measures for tourists, Goa police also decided to increase 24-hour pickets in coastal areas where more crimes were reported.
The police said that they had mapped such places and that they would review all the areas every month to check the crime rate there.
The department has also decided to deploy additional staff where needed, to maintain law and order.
According to statistical reports issued by the National Crime Note Bureau (NCRB) for 2020, cases of crime involving foreigners in Goa are about eight times committed to them.
Goa recorded 11 cases of crime against foreigners last year compared to 80 cases of violations committed by them.
The country as a whole looks at a total of 127 cases of crime against foreigners as to 1,754 cases where foreigners are involved in evil.
NCRB said that there was a decrease in crime against strangers because it was also a crime committed by foreigners, which was associated with Goa police with pandemics who said that a large number of foreign tourists visited the country during this period.
In 2019, 21 cases of crimes against foreigners were reported compared with 110 cases of violations committed by them.
In Goa, Russia and Nigeria are mostly involved in narcotics cases.
Because there are more foreigners involved in crime, the state government has opened a detention center for them in Mapapa.
To keep customary violates, syrup history and to ensure the security of citizens, Goa police have decided to patrol all the time on the coast and urban areas.
The police said that additional staff had been deployed to defeat the police.
Police said that they would also take action on illegal activities in the tourism belt.
