Copenhagen: Every one of the ages of 18 years in Norway will be offered a booster shot from the Coronavirus vaccine, the State Prime Minister said Friday, adding that health care personnel who were not tested must be tested twice a week and had to wear face masks.
“Vaccination is the most important protection that we have against Coronavirus.
Infection will be among us for the next few years, and there is a lot that we can do together to prevent viruses to spread,” said Jonas Gahr Stoere.
The move came amid a surge in Coronavirus infection throughout Europe in recent weeks.
Throughout Western Europe, a region with a relatively high level of vaccination and a good health care system but where locking steps are mostly from the past, infection again rises.
Health Minister Ingvild Kjerkol said Booster’s shot “could contribute to better protection against disease and fewer people through infection.” People who are not vaccinated who live with someone who has been tested positively with Covid-19 must be tested “every day with an independent test or every day with a PCR test for seven days,” he added.
“This is not just a recommendation, but the task,” Kjerkol said.
The Norwegian government also allows local authorities to bring digital passes locally, if necessary to avoid locking.
Gunnar Wilhelmsen, North City Mayor Tromsoe who has seen a surge in cases, said the pass will be introduced as soon as possible, Norwegian Broadcaster NRK reported.
Tromsoe, Arctic City 77,000, has recommended the use of facial masks, social distance and work from home.
The official Norwegian figures show that 91.5% of people over the age of 18 have received the first and 87.2 vaccine shots have both doses.
