Belgrade: Novak Djokovic on Thursday said he planned to give his “version” about what had happened during the failure that caused his deportation before the Australian Open in the coming days.
World number one visa was canceled last month ahead of the Grand Slam opening season on the status of Covid-19 vaccination, and he has saved a relatively low profile since returning to Serbia – making a handful of short performances.
“I begged patience and in the next seven to ten days I would talk to more thorough media about the version of my story,” Djokovic said during a press conference along with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Belgrade.
The 34-year-old did not offer other details about his future plans, while he thanked Vucic and serbian fans for their support during trials.
Djokovic could not challenge the title of the Grand Slam Singles 21, which was won during the weekend by his rival Rafael Nadal, who is now the most decorated player in the history of tennis.
Serbia, however, remains world number one in the ranking released earlier this week and expanded its records in the top spots of up to 358 weeks.
