Odisha: 2000 kg of marijuana worth 1 crore seized at Gajpati, 2 held

Religious: In the first largest place of marijuana in the Gajapati District, the police confiscated around 2,000 kg of smuggled goods, worth around Rs 1 Crore, and arrested two Uttar Pradesh because it was allegedly smuggling substances at the limit of the existava police station below in the district on Sunday.
“The opportunity is hidden in a truck that is being registered with Granite,” said Gajapati SP Jayaram Satapati.
Vehicles, along with marijuana, have been confiscated, he added.
After getting marijuana from all districts, the smugglers transported it up through Raipur, Chhattisgarh, when police took a contraband.
Duo accused, the two residents of Aligarh, have been identified as Ravi Singh and Raju Singh, the driver and truck helper.
Further investigation of this case is active, the police added.
The massive confiscation of smuggled has proven that Odisha is still a major supplier of marijuana throughout the country.
On August 23, the police confiscated around 2.149kg of marijuana from four places, while the 700kg of the drug was confiscated from two places in the district on August 27.
SP added that the crackdown on the transport of illegal marijuana from this district was one of the priority areas of the Gajapati police.
“Therefore, we have instructed all police stations to maintain strict vigilance on illegal marijuana transportation in their respective regions.
Drive on illegal transportation from contraband goods will continue,” he added.
In the same incident, the police confiscated around 306kg of marijuana, packaged in six pockets from the roadside in Salaguda below the limit of the Gochhapada police station in the Kandhamal District on Sunday.
The people accused of leaving the place to see the police.
On Saturday, the Excise Ministry’s intelligence wing arrested two people from Rajasthan while smuggling marijuana from the Ganjam district to Nagpur, Maharashtra, in a truck through mixed.
About 500kg of marijuana, worth around Rs 50 lakh along with trucks, arrested from the duo.
