Bhubaneswar: Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced a special Covid package around RS 33 Crore as part of livelihood support for more than 64,214 members of the vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) in the state.
As part of the package, each member will receive financial assistance of Rs 5,000.
Naveen initiated the transfer of money directly to their bank account.
Pandemic Covid-19 has greatly influenced the income of the poor, including PVTGS, which numbered around 13 in the state.
“You are not alone during the crisis.
I want to ensure that the state government is with you,” said Naveen on that occasion.
The official source said there were 1679 villages in the state where PVTGS remained.
A total of 314 PVTG was infected with Covid-19 according to the official estimate, even though there were no casualties.

The government has prioritized vaccinations for PVTGs while it has also provided sanctions for rations and other assistance for the community.
Naveen, on that occasion, once again appealed to people to comply with the behavior of Covid and for vaccinated.
The chairman of the minister, on that occasion, also transferred a three-month post-matrix scholarship (April-June) to more than five lakh caste schedules (SC) and scheduled tribal students (ST), equal to Rs 252.35 Crore.
The minister’s chairman, on that occasion, interacted with several PVTG families and students, who have received scholarships.
