Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Higher Education has decided to introduce the ‘Juba Sanskaar’ program in college throughout the state to build student characters.
To achieve character building goals, new mandatory academic courses titled ‘Ethics and values’ have been introduced below the graduation rate from the academic year 2021-22, carrying six credits (one credit per each from six semesters).
“As the next step in this direction, it has now been decided to start a non-academic program in college entitled ‘Juba Sanskaar’ program.
Although this program will be carried out in class mode, there will be no assessment and evaluation or credit points attached to this program , “said Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education Mishra.
Class ‘Juba Sanskaar’ (one period of standard duration) must be held class-wise or part that discusses all students from all semesters UG and PG – Mandator at least once a month.
In this Sanskaar Juba class, it is freely available in short audio-visual films (AV films) on the theme of character building (such as staying away from drugs / tobacco, absorbing patriotism / volunteers and developing respect to seniors / women) will be displayed to students for squirming them.
The department also released detailed guidelines for conducting Juba Sanskaar classes.
“It is expected that when students are often exposed to AV films building good characters, there will definitely be a positive change in it,” Mishra said.
