Bhubaneswar: The Office of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) will remain closed until January 25 given the increasing Covid case in circumstances and detection of positive cases among officers and office staff.
“To adopt strict indication and insulation measures to stop the spread of Covid-19 infection further, the commission office will remain completely closed from Monday to 25 January,” Notifications issued by OHRC on Monday.
During this period, a very urgent problem will only be taken to hear through virtual mode.
For urgent hearing like the applicant can contact the personal secretary’s cellphone number to the OHRC chairman.
Complaints / petitions can be submitted via official email ohrc@nic.in.
“Very urgent things can be taken / heard after getting permission from the OHRC chairman.
The parties / people who are interested in virtual hearing must provide their cellphone number and email ID in advance,” Read Notification.
Pradipta Nayak Rights Activist and Canungo Biswapriya on Monday petitioned before the commission about prohibiting the human rights team to visit Dhinkia to find facts about the issue of alleged police atrocities in Dhinkia Peace in Jagatsinghpur.
People protest steel plants proposed in the area.
They asked the commission to take awareness of the incident and order high-level investigations into the police with an agitator on Friday in Dhinkia.
They also prayed before the commission to allow defenders of human rights to meet the victims of police atrocities in the area and ordered police income and personnel not to harass peaceful protesters.
