Bhubaneswar: The Directorate of Prison Odisha plans to buy a camera drone for air monitoring in sensitive prisons.
In addition, the prison system will be launched in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
“The proposed drone service will help us keep tabs in a large place from prisons not covered under CCTV cameras.
Drone cameras can also detect illegal activities in prison and maintain a watch on detention activities,” DG (prison), “and correctional services ) Santosh Upadhyay said.
He said a special jharpada prison in Bhubaneswar and Choudwar Circle Jail in Cuttack will soon have a prisoner call system.
Biometric fingerprints from prisoners will be collected along with two telephone numbers or family members they want to talk to.
This figure will be verified to ensure that the call is not done on any criminal.
“At least four kiosks will be installed in every prison.
Prisoners can get into the phone outlet through the fingerprint scanner.
They will be asked to choose one of the two numbers registered with the system.
They cannot call another number.
Calls will be recorded automatically.
Every duration of the call will be a maximum of 5 minutes.
Each call will be disconnected automatically after 5 minutes.
A prisoner must pay Rs 5 for a 5-minute call, “said Upadhyay.
This new system aims to limit the misuse of the telephone system in which some criminals are suspected of making invalid calls to their gang members and carrying out syndicates of crimes from prison.” We will Buy 20 cameras worn by the body to be used by our staff in different prisons.
Transactions without cash through smart cards are being introduced gradually to purchase canteens in prison.
The video wall is watching well.
CCTV footage from prison, “said Upadhyay.
