Hyderabad: A group of US and Canadian-based Indian researchers in a major study found that the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) might have been born from a covid-19 patient infected after the virus changed its genetic template.
Covid-19 patients may have been simultaneously infected by one seasonal Koronavirus such as HCOV-229E, which is one of the viruses that cause ordinary flu.
Genetic exchanges between novel Coronavirus (SARS-COV-2) which caused Covid-19 and a seasonal coronavirus that caused ordinary flu might have given birth to Omicron, the only Covid-19 variant found so far with more than 50 mutations, researchers.
said.
To arrive in the hypothesis, the research team from Ningeren, the US-based medical data research body, studied 5.4 million genomes of 1,523 Covid-19 lines.
It also found Omicron to be unique in genetic makeup and different from the previous line.
“It makes sense that Omicron insertion can evolve into infected individuals together.
There is a need to understand the function of the Omicron insertion and whether human hosts cells are exploited by the Coronavirus novel as ‘evolution sandboxes’ for the host.
-Virus and Inter-Viral genome interplay,” said the researchers in their report.
The researchers called for monitoring intense mutations, the research team consisted of AJ Venkatakrishnan, Venky Soundararajan, Praveen Anand, Rohit Letter and Bharathah Raghunathan.
Michiel JM Niesen and Patrick J Lenuhan are also part of the study team.
The results of the study were published on the Prefrint server, OSF Preform.
Said that substitution and removal mutations have emerged in the previous novel Coronavirus seamstone, this study noted that the insertion mutation (INS214EPE) had never been observed in nine other novel coronavirus besides Omicron.
This study highlights that protein protection surges omicron, insertion mutation insertion that is not in all other new coronavirus negligence.
“Given the importance of the genetic recombination of the virus and the entry of the entry of the integration of the host genome by the novel Coronavirus, we consider various genomic host-viral and inter-viral exchange scenarios that might contribute to the adoption of this insertion mutation in this precursor of the Omicron variant,” they said.
The researchers call intense monitoring about changes in the transfer of mutation that can lead to the appearance of the new Coronavirus variant.
They also emphasized the need for the order of the novel Coronavirus genome from individuals with viral co-infections and generally to develop “variant warning systems” for early detection.
