New Delhi: Delhi has recorded the maximum number of interstate transactions for subsidized food ingredients under the scheme of “One State One Ration” (Onorc).
Only in December, nearly 80% of these transactions throughout the country have been recorded in Delhi, showing how a large number of migrants from other states benefit from schemes that began in the national capital.
The Onorc platform allows beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) to get subsidized meadows from Ransum stores throughout the country.
According to the latest data, the number of Interstate transactions in Delhi during this month was close to 2.3 lakh of a total of 2.79 lakh transactions in the country.
Data also showed that in November, Delhi recorded nearly 1.4 lakh such transactions from almost 2.18 lakh transactions throughout the country.
The trend also shows that there has been a quantum leap in the transaction in the last six months – from 27,000 in July to 2.3 lakh in December.
It also points to Delhi to be home to many migrants from other states and how the scheme has helped them.
Officials say go with rough calculations, each transaction involves appointment of grasslands for four beneficiaries and passes that almost nine migrants lakh have benefited from the new system in the national capital.
“Delhi began to be very late but registered one of the highest interstate portable transactions through Onorc,” Food Secretary Union Sudhanshu Pandey said.
At the national level, this scheme is very successful in ensuring that the beneficiaries identified get subsidized meadows.
Data showed that the total number of Interstate transactions increased from nearly 60,000 in July 2021 to almost 2.79 lakh during this month, which increased by more than 450%.
Pandey said under Onorc there were more than 50 portable crore transactions so far throughout the country, which provided more than RS 33,000 subsidies crore through food.
