Chennai: Madras High Court has directed Anna University to allow candidates who have cleaned Jee (play) also to participate in counseling for B Arch 2021-22 courses.
This year, candidates who have cleared the national talent test in architecture (Nata) are only permitted to participate in counseling.
Passing through the temporary order, justice and Venkatesh have explained that the selection will be subject to the results of the application that challenges the rules.
The court issued an order while hearing two requests looking for directions to universities and commissioners of TN engineering acceptance to allow students to participate in reception to the B.Arch lane based on the Jee score (Main).
When the request enters to enter, the applicant submits that it is seen from the record that until the academic year 2020-21, candidates who qualify in the talent test carried out by Nata and candidates who qualify in the talent test carried out by Jee are considered to be eligible to participate In reception to B.Arch in Tamil Nadu.
However, when the prospectus was issued for the 2021-22 academic year, suddenly the Nata examination was considered for B.Arch courses, they said.
“This is completely contrary to the information bulletin published by the National Test Agency, which makes it very clear that Jee (Main) exam papers are carried out to enter B.Arch and B.Planing courses throughout the country,” he added.
.
Therefore, Tamil Nadu cannot get out of the obligation by not allowing students who have undergone a jee test (play) to participate in reception, they said.
