Austin: Democrats Beto O’Rourke said on Wednesday, he collected more than $ 2 million after announcing a campaign for the Governor of Texas, demonstrating the ability to still quickly accumulate cash after coming failure for the Senate and Presidency.
His campaign said the money came from more than 20,000 donations in the first 24 hours but did not immediately provide further details, including a large amount of contribution or how many of which came from the Texas population.
But even though the numbers showed an early enthusiasm explosion for O’Rourke, former Congressman El Paso still had a long way to arrest or even approach the Republican Party Governor, Greg Abbott, who was reported with almost $ 55 million campaign funds.
Abbott, who is looking for the third term, is the most productive fundraising of the governor in the US and routinely gathered a six-point contribution in big money from Texas executives.
O’Rourke collected $ 80 million in the 2018 Senate campaign – at that time a record for the office – but the donor would not be locked up this time by the Federal Campaign Finance Act, because Texas did not have an individual contribution limit.
O’Rourke launched his campaign Monday and spent the first days of the campaigning competition along the Texas-Mexico border, where the Democrats were in defensive after the unexpected GOP increase there by 2020.
