Vadodara: He watched birds migrating with binoculars in a spacious Wetland Wadhwana on Sunday when he saw something in the water.
At first, Ajay Parmar thought that it was a crocodile baby but soon he realized that it was something else.
Parmar is happy with what he found it turned out to be a beaver in the middle of the lake.
“I have visited this wetland for the past two decades to watch and click birds.
This is the first time the beavers are seen in Wadhwana.
It is fun to watch freshwater beavers swim on the lake,” Parmar, who photographed beavers together With Ankit Shah, telling Toi.
“Otter has been seen in Mahi and even Narmada but never has this mammal seen on this lake,” he said.
Beavers are carnivorous mammals who eat fish, crabs and frogs.
Efficient hunter, freshwater beaver has a single leg and long flat tail that helps it push through water.
“Even though I only saw one beaver, I felt it had to have his family.
Narmada is connected to Wadhwana so it’s possible that beavers have to swim through the canal to this lake,” Parmar added.
“The Otter, even if a loner, can stay on the lake for a long time because wetlands are a good food source.
I managed to get a few clicks when adult Otter rose on a small island for a while before sneaking away in the waters,” he said .
Avid Bird Watcher, Kartik Upadhyay said that he also never heard beavers seen in Wadhwana all year so he visited wetlands.
