Paddy Straws: Powered Biomass Power Plants

Written by news2in

Patiala: In an effort to check the propeller, two additional biomass power plants that will appear in this year’s punjab have been postponed.
Two biomass power projects, including the 10 MW project at Fatehgarh Sahib and 4 MW project in Nakodar, must be completed in June.
Now, projects may operate next year.
After operating, the two projects will consume around 1.2 lakh metric tons (LMT) of rice residues.
Punjab Energy Development Agency (Peda) officials have linked delays in their establishment to Covid Pandemics.
The high cost of power production from this factory is also the main reason for delays.
Sources say private companies or owners have lost interest as the country’s electricity sector, which should buy power from this plant, have been looking for strength at cheaper prices.
“The two proposed projects have been postponed because Covid but will definitely operate next year.
After that, this plant will consume rice residues from the surrounding area,” said CEO of Peda N P S Randhawa.
Already, 11 Biomass power projects operate in Punjab and produce 97.5 MW POWER every year, using around 8.80 LMT Padi stumps.
The Power Purchase Agreement from this plant has been made with PSPCL.
