Pakistan: Changes required on the EU Plan on Rights in Afghanistan
Written by news2in

Geneva: The Pakistani Foreign Ministry wants the European Union to increase its plans to increase human rights monitoring under the leadership of the new Taliban in Afghanistan, who hopes to emerge from decades of war and instability.
Islamabad said “further improvement” with resolutions in the UN human rights body needed, including concrete promises of aid for the captured countries fighting without using human rights as the only criteria.
Pakistan is arguably the interlocutor of the country closest to the Taliban, with historical bonds and real influences with religious militias.
European blocks lead efforts supported by more than 40 countries in the Human Rights Council to pass the resolution of next week which will, among others, specify a special reporter in Afghanistan to help the state enforce its international commitment to human rights and support offers for advocacy groups – partial Great work is disturbed under new leadership.
Europeans want a consensus for resolution on the council, which calculates Pakistan among 47 member countries.
Reporters will benefit from expertise in legal affairs, torture and penalties that are degrading, the right to education, and women’s rights, girls and minorities, in accordance with the resolution.
Pakistan and Islamic cooperation organization lead round resolution on the board during a special session in August – before the full departure of international forces – which expressed concern about the situation of the rights in Afghanistan, and called for the head of the UN human rights to monitor the situation, with a written report planned next March.
Some advocacy groups say it’s not far enough.
In comment to the Associated Press Thursday night, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Asim Iftikhar said the European Union’s draft resolution “needs further improvement” and that the delegation works together on it.
He said Pakistan believed the UE initiative “did not add value to OIC resolution adopted only a month ago with the approval of all board members.” He also said the European Union’s proposal “strives to pursue concerns (human rights) in isolation from the dimensions of security, safety, conflict, governance, and economics.
The EU initiative is only directed at civil and political rights, without consideration of economic and social rights ..
Iftikhar added: “We also advise them to include several indications / elements of help” for Afghanistan, without describing.
Ordering from Islamabad shows that diplomatic movements are located in the coming days.
This proposal is suitable for wider international efforts to encourage.
Supervision of women’s rights, girls, ethnic minorities, and others under the Taliban leadership after the use of the Afghan government in August and the departure of international forces in the country after about two decades.
