Geneva: The Pakistani Foreign Ministry wants the European Union to increase its plans to increase human rights monitoring under the leadership of the new Taliban in Afghanistan, who hopes to emerge from decades of war and instability.
Islamabad said “further improvement” with resolutions in the UN human rights body needed, including concrete promises of aid for the captured countries fighting without using human rights as the only criteria.
Pakistan is arguably the interlocutor of the country closest to the Taliban, with historical bonds and real influences with religious militia.

Europeans want a consensus for resolution on the council, which calculates Pakistan among 47 member countries.

The EU initiative is directed for civil and political rights, without considering economic and social rights.
Iftikhar added: “We also advise them to include several indications / relief elements” for Afghanistan, without describing.
Reservations from Islamabad suggest that diplomatic quarrels lie in the coming days.
Proposals match broader international efforts to increase supervision.
