PALGHAR: Parents in Palghar have a reason to rejoice now that their school children are encouraged to turn off cellphones and read books.
Starting on December 18, 2021, the campaign along the month titled ‘AAO Kitabon SE Dosti Karein’ (coming, friends with books), promoting reading habits among children.
“In the past two years, many children have stopped reading books because of online classes.
Many parents do not know what students know on cellphones other than attending online classes.
We have started this initiative to revive the excitement of reading books,” said Tanveer Ahmed Ansari, District President in Palghar, All Indian IDEAL teacher associations, about the campaign was originally intended for students of Zila Parishad and Private Urdu Middle School.
This campaign includes seminars, discussions about excess offline reading, cellular libraries begin in the name of former President A P J Abdul Kalam and the creation of ‘nooks’ books in class.
Trolley bags are packed with storybooks, comics, biography, and history that are in accordance with the interests of children stored at the school gate.
“Children are encouraged to borrow books from cellular libraries to keep them involved after school and give them a reason to stay away from the phone,” said the campaign organizer.
Asif Tahir Ali, they have also started the competition titled ‘Kitabein Padho, Inaam Pao’ (read books, get awards).
‘”Children are given a book to read every week and the question is requested from a book.
Those who give the right answer are given with a prize,” Ali explained about the campaign intended to encourage children to go beyond textbooks.
Reading books has many benefits.
It expands the horizons, accumulates vocabulary, enriches general knowledge and is ambition and hope.

Reading makes them motivated, positive and on the edge.
Yasmin Sajid Shaikh, the principal of the Zilla Parishad school in Vasai, welcomed this initiative.
“As a teacher, I am worried that children have forgotten what they taught a few months ago.
In the primary class we must teach them again what they taught before because they forgot many things during locking.
It is well realized socially.
It is good people have initiated a campaign to instill reading habits between children, “Shaikh said.
