Mysuru: In the midst of reports that more parents began sending their children to government schools due to the financial crisis induced by Covid-19, the Department of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj stepped up to strengthen government schools in the villages through Gram Panchayats , According to the recent circulation issued by Uma Mahadevan, the main secretary, RDPR, Panchayat level officials and community representatives were asked to work to empower local government schools.
According to Circular Development Officers, Panchayat, President Panchayat, Vice President and Members of the Social Justice Committee, the education task force is recommended to visit government schools in their area at least once in three months.
They were asked to hold discussions with the development of schools and monitoring committees (SDMC), school teachers and ensure the presence of 100% students by providing required facilities.
Representatives of Panchayat grams are also advised to provide various facilities to schools under various government schemes including Jal Jeevan’s mission.
According to advisors, representatives of Gram Panchayat must prepare a list of facilities available at school.
Visits will be documented on the Panchatantra website from the department.
Teachers are pleased with this decision and say RDPR decisions must be enforced within urban boundaries too.
Chandrashekar Nuggi, Secretary General of the Government Teacher Association said the order would help empower schools.
