Cuddalore: DMK MP from Cuddalore, TRV S Ramesh, who was ordered on charges of murdering a worker in the cashew nut unit in Panruti, surrendered before the court in Panruti on Monday.
Sleuth CBCID has arrested five people identified as MP Natarajan’s personal assistant, Mete M Kandavel factory manager, M Allah Pitchai, K Vinoth and Sundararajan.
The investigation team, who visited the house of parliamentarians on Saturday to issue a call, found that he was not at home and launched hunting for him.
Ramesh in a statement issued before giving up before Judge Judicial Panruti R Karpagavalli, said that he felt sick to note that several political parties had launched a fake propaganda against the DMK party after the death of a worker in cashew nut unit.
Ramesh said he did not want to provide room to people to raise false accusations to good governance from his leader (DMK President and Chair of the MK Stalin Minister) and decided to give up in court.
He said he would face accusations he leveled legally and would prove that he was innocent by providing sufficient evidence.
Govindarasu from Melmampartu, who worked for the past seven years at Trv Gayatatir Mequews owned by MP, did not return home after work on September 19.
His son Senthilvel filed a complaint to the Kadampuliyur police.
Senthilvel said the personal assistant of parliament members called him from his father’s cellphone at 20.25 in the morning on September 20 and said his father had consumed poison in the unit and was taken to the Panruti Government General Hospital where the doctor said he died.
Senthilvel said there was an injury in the left eye, face, neck and some parts of his father and blood stains on clothing.
Police Kadampuliyur enrolled suspicious death cases and began investigation.
Meanwhile, the PMK legal unit moved Madras High Court to find the CBI probe and demanded that MP and his colleagues be ordered for murder.
This case was transferred to CB-CID on September 27.
Agency, after conducting an initial investigation, posted MP and the other five under the IPC 302 section (punishment for murder), 201 (causing loss of evidence of violations, or giving false information to serve the perpetrators), 341 (penalty for wrong restraints), 147 ( Punishment for riots), 149 (every member of the Assembly who violated the law guilty of committing a violation carried out in the prosecution of general objects) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy punishment).
