Palanpur: The shocking incident video from a young woman who was noted and her face blackened before being paraded at Vadi Mohalla from Harij Town in Patan District had sent shock waves across the country.
The video is believed to be a week old, but go viral on social media on Friday.
Harij Polda has caught at least 17 people in connection with the incident including some family members and neighbors of the young woman.
In that video, the girl was seen sitting on the ground with her hand bound.
A man holding a pair of scissors was seen cutting down his hair even when he wasgging for mercy.
Those who treated the victims were members of his family and also neighbors.
In another video from the same incident, some people were seen smearing his face with black ash before being paraded thus in the area where he lived with his hand was still bound.
According to District Collector Patan, Supret Singh Gulati, the woman belongs to the Vadi community.
“The woman tends, her face blackened and she was paraded in the area where she lived.
According to what I can collect, women who are engaged to marry some other people from the community have married with her lover.
Mencaling, and blackening her face is a kind of community purification ritual, “Golati told Toi.
“This violates the law,” Gulati said, added that a case was being submitted and 17 people had been arrested in connection with the incident.
Police Patan Supervisor Akshayraj Makwana said that the age of the young woman was unorthon.
“We tried to get a document in connection with ensuring his age.
Based on his age, the defendant would be ordered,” he added.
The source said that the woman had married her with the man last month and when he returned about a week ago, he became the target of the community with “refining ritual”.
