The problem is related to the threat of drugs in punjab.
Importantly, the former DGP (prison), Punjab, Shashi Kant has written a letter to the High Court who accused the Nexus of politicians with Mr.
Narcotics in Punjab.
In an application sent before HC on September 10, 2013, Shashi Kant claimed that drug smuggling worth more than Rs 6,000 Crore took place every year in Punjab and the money entered to fund elections in the state.
The former DGP has also proposed that drugs are not only smuggled from Pakistan but also produced in Punjab.
HC has stunted all these applications and formed a special division bench to hear cases related to drugs in Punjab.
