Rajkot: A 30-year-old woman from Bihar and a three-year-old mother, was beaten to death allegedly by the two neighbors, when she rebuked them for peering into her home in the Veraval Shapar area on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Shabnam Chauhan.
The defendant included Sonu and his brother Shambhu, both native to Uttar Pradesh.
The police said that Sonu had been detained because he was questioned, while Shambhu fled.
According to the police, Shabnam lives with her husband Santosh and three children at a single room at Shapar Veraval.
Santosh is used to work as a relaxed worker in a factory.
The defendant, Sonu and Shambhu, are their neighbors.
On Sunday night, when Santosh was working, Sonu allegedly harassed Shabnam and peered into his house from the window.
When he rebuked Sonu, he was with his brother Shambhu, broke into his house and dragged him out with his hair.
The police said that the defendant then crashed into Shabnam with an iron pipe and escaped.
Meanwhile, Kin Shabnam told Santosh about the fight.
When Santosh reached the house, he found Shabnam in a blood pool.
He was first taken to the nearest hospital from where he was referred to Rajkot Civil Hospital.
Shabnam was declared dead on arrival at a civil hospital, police said.
According to the police, they have held Sonu to be questioned and will immediately arrest his brother Shambhu.
The deceased has survived by a husband and three children, under the age of five.
