Guwahati: After “Mahajot” floated by Congress in 2021 the polling the sank after the difference with AIUDF and BPF, the Grand Old Party has updated its mission to win the upcoming improvement by climbing indegen sentiment which was reproduced by the latest two regional parties – Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Raijor Dal (RD).
President Assam PCC Bhupen Borah on Sunday officially announced his party’s decision to offer famous majuli chairs at AJP.
Congress also announced that Bhabanipur to Raijor Dal, led by Farmer Leader Akhil Gogoi at a press conference here.
While Bhabanipur will go to Bypolls on October 30 along with four other seats in the state – Gossiigaon, Tamulpur, Thowra and Mariani – Bypolls in Majuli will be held next.
Known as Tanah Satras (Vaishnavite Monastery), Majuli is a focused chair for the government led by BJP that has vowed to protect the culture and customary identity of “aggressor”.
For the Safron Party, many of which are at stake here because Majuli is represented in the State Assembly by the former Minister of Sarbananda Sonowal since 2016.
Sonowal emptied a recent seat when he was elected to Rajya Sabha after being appointed as the Cabinet Minister in Indonesia Narendra Government Modi in the middle.
“Today we have sent the names of candidate panels for Thowra, Marai, Gossaigaon and seats Tamulpur to the High Command Congress.
But we are happy to officially announce that Majuli has been submitted to AJP led by Lurinjyoti Gogoi and Bhabanipur for Raijor Dal,” Borah said.
He said the three to four candidates for each constituency was recommended for AICC.
Borah, however, said the Congress was still waiting for the final decision from Raijor Dal about his offer to give Bhabanipur to the akhil party.
Badruddin Ajmal’s AIDF won from Bhabanipur in the election of the last assembly but the legislator Phanidhar Talukdar joined BJP later.
As a minority voice is now a determining factor in Bhabanipur, although the area is an important nerve center of the anti-foreign movement (1979-85), people in Raijor Dal say it has little or no trust of victory from here.
“Congress wants Raijor Dal to accept our offer because we want to bring the two parties to join BJP,” Borah said, adding that the Congress would wait for the “positive response” Akhil until the last moment of nomination.
Although Akhil insisted on the Fielding of his aide Dhaijjya Konwar from Thowra in Sivasagar, Borah said they could not submit a seat from where the congress won the last election for only three months.
President Ajp Lurinjyoti, a face of the anti-CAA movement in Assam, urged all anti-BJP parties to the field of one consensus candidate for each seat.
AJP and Raijor Dal are believed to have destroyed the prospect of the congress in the North and above Assam region in the last assembly poll where both parties have divided most of the anti-BJP sound.
