Pin state hope on 2nd aiims in union budget

Bhubaneswar: Health experts and civil society members hope the center will provide sanctions on the second AIIM proposal for Odisha in the Union budget.
The state government has demanded a national level health care institution in the western part of Odisha.
In November 2020, the Secretary of the Head of State had written to the Ministry of Health and the welfare of the United States to establish the second AIIM in Sundargarh Regency.
The top bureaucrats have argued that some states, including Bihar, have two AIims.
The state, in December 2013, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) to start medical colleges and hospitals in Sundargarh.
Construction work from 100-sitting medical colleges and 500 bed hospitals have been completed.
BRAJA Kishore Dash, Secretary of the State of the Indian Medical Association, said the facility was built by NTPC in Sundargarh, suitable for AIIM.
“This will not only meet the health needs of West Odisha people, but also serve patients from neighboring countries,” he added.
Another expert, who works at a government hospital, said: “Considering heavy inflows from outside patients and indoors in AIims Bhubaneswar, AIIM Second is the need for hours.”
