New Delhi: Hospitality of the Major Intercontinental Group Group (IHG) Wellness and Sustainability Brand Six Sense – which makes robbery to the Indian market with “sensitive” changing the 14th century fortress in Ranthambore to become a luxury hotel that is open Saturday (October 16) – has a big plan for that country.
CEO of Six Sense Neil Jacobs has told TII he plans to have 5-6 properties in the next 10 years and the proposed location including Delhi and Mumbai.
“Six Senses Fort Barwara in Ranthambore is the first of some of the properties we will have in India.
This property has set a very high bar for our future property in India.
The 14th century fortress has been restored very sensitively,” Jacobs said.
Asked about investment, Jacobs did not give numbers but said restoring the fort to accommodate a luxury hotel was more expensive than building new properties.
“Suffice it to say much cheaper to build a hotel from the bottom up.
The actual commitment is in terms of intention.
This is not unusual for the property (us) to charge $ 70,000-80,000 per room.
We have a long rental of around 25-30 years with Possible extensions (in Barwara), “Jacobs, whose global career includes leadership roles at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts and Starwood Capital Group, said.
Time to launch coincides with a pandemic that leads to more people traveling in their country than before because of sustainable restrictions on international travel.
“In many places like the US and Asia, the domestic travel market is floating.
They see more domestic travelers than before.” Asked about the Indian plan that appeared, he said it was important to find the right location or property.
“We are willing to take over hotels that have magical quality and are in a great location.
In Mumbai who tend to be a Ground-up property (new).
In Delhi, we will look for the right property.
We are open to all opportunities,” he said .
Six Sense Fort Barwara, 30 minutes for Tiger reserves, will be open to guests starting October 16.
The original Barwara fortress was built in the 14th century by Chaihans.
The 700-year fort restoration requires more than a decade, combining two palaces and as many temples in the walled fortress.
Now converted into a hotel, has 48 one-room suite designed in contemporary Rajasthani style.
The resort has three restaurants with bars and lounges, apart from six Sense Spa and a fitness center and two swimming pools, banquet areas, lifestyle boutiques and children’s clubs.
